What is Choghadiya?
Choghadiya (also called Muhurtham, ముహూర్తం) divides each day and night into 8 equal muhurta slots. The word comes from “char ghadi” — each slot spans approximately 1.5 hours. Unlike Rahu Kalam which marks only a single inauspicious period, Choghadiya provides a complete time map of the entire day, showing when to act and when to wait.
Amrit
Best — all activities, health, wealth
Shubh
Auspicious — ceremonies, new beginnings
Labh

Char

Udveg

Kaal

Rog

The sequence of Choghadiya slots changes with each weekday, calculated from local sunrise for day slots and sunset for night slots. Amrit is the most auspicious — ideal for beginning any important work. Rog, Kaal, and Udveg are inauspicious and best avoided for new ventures.
