Jyothishamu (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates jyothishamu.com — a Telugu astrology platform. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our website, how we use it, and your rights.

By using Jyothishamu, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Data We Collect

Kundali (birth chart) inputs

When you generate a Kundali, your name, date of birth, time of birth, and city are sent to our servers to perform the astrological calculation. These details are embedded in the shareable URL but are not stored in any database by us.

City / location for Panchangam

If you select a city for Panchangam timings, that preference is stored in your browser's localStorage. It is not transmitted to our servers.

Language and theme preferences

Your selected language (English / Telugu) and light/dark theme are saved in your browser's localStorage. This data stays on your device and is never sent to us.

Rashi / Nakshatra for My Predictions

Your selected Rashi and Nakshatra in the “My Predictions” feature are stored in your browser's localStorage. We cannot access this data.

Anonymous usage analytics

We use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to collect anonymised, aggregated data — page views, geographic region, and device type. No individual users are tracked.

2. How Data Is Stored

localStorage (your device):Language, theme, Rashi, Nakshatra, and city preferences are stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. They never leave your device. You can clear this data at any time via your browser settings.

Supabase PostgreSQL (our servers): Pre-generated astrological predictions (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly) are cached in our Supabase database. This cache contains only astrological content keyed by rashi/nakshatra name — no personal user data. Data stored in Supabase is encrypted at rest.

Kundali inputs: Not stored server-side. Results are calculated on-demand and returned to you; the inputs are embedded only in the shareable URL you create.

3. AI-Generated Content

Horoscope predictions, rashi phalalu, and nakshatra forecasts on Jyothishamu are AI-generated using Claude by Anthropic. Prediction requests sent to Anthropic contain only the rashi or nakshatra name and the requested period (daily, weekly, etc.) — no personal user data is included. Generated content is reviewed for quality and cultural accuracy before being served.

4. Cookies

Jyothishamu uses localStorage rather than cookies for user preferences (language, theme, Rashi, Nakshatra). We do not set first-party tracking cookies.

Google Analytics may set cookies for traffic analysis if enabled on this site. These cookies help us understand aggregate usage patterns. You can opt out via Google Analytics Opt-out.

Google AdSense may be enabled in the future to display advertisements. When active, it uses cookies to serve ads based on your browsing activity. You can manage ad personalisation at Google Ads Settings. For more information, see How Google uses data from partner sites.

5. Third-Party Services

Vercel

Website hosting and serverless functions. May collect server access logs (IP address, request path, timestamp) for operational purposes.

Supabase

Database for caching pre-generated predictions. No personal user data is stored.

Anthropic (Claude AI)

AI model used to generate astrological prediction text. Only rashi/nakshatra name and period type are sent — no personal data.

Google Analytics

Aggregate traffic analysis. May use cookies. No personal data is shared by us.

Google AdSense (planned)

Display advertising. When enabled, may use cookies for personalised ads based on browsing history.

Razorpay (if payment is made)

Payment processing for any paid features. Razorpay handles payment data directly and we do not store card details.

Resend (if email is subscribed)

Transactional email service used if you subscribe to updates. Your email address is stored by Resend to deliver emails.

6. No Selling of Data

We never sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties for their marketing or advertising purposes. Any data we hold is used solely to operate and improve Jyothishamu.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you. Since most user preferences are stored only in your own browser, you can manage or delete them directly via your browser settings.

To request deletion of any data held on our servers (e.g., email address if subscribed), please email us at jyothishamu@outlook.com and we will action your request promptly.

8. Children's Privacy

Jyothishamu is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through our site, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we do, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be revised. Continued use of Jyothishamu after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of India, including the Information Technology Act 2000 and applicable rules. Any disputes arising from this policy shall be subject to the jurisdiction of courts in India.
